Our electronic collection is available 24/24. We want to stress once again that almost all legal databases (Jura, Strada lex, Jurisquare, monKEY, SocialEye, TaxWin Expert, HeinOnline, etc.) can be consulted from home, and this as long as the CORONA crisis continues. Ideally, you should use the links listed on the home page of Law Library Limburg to consult these databases. Authenticate as a UHasselt student and get (almost) unlimited access.
We would like to point out that within Law Library Limburg, a 'scan on demand' service is being deployed for legal publications. UHasselt staff and students can request a free scan of a journal article or a book chapter (max. 30 pages) via info-rbl@uhasselt.be. However, please deal with this in a well-considered manner. We do our best to deliver these requests within two working days. To find out whether the work you are looking for is in the RBL, please check the library catalogue.
Students are able to go to the RBL for research work in the context of their bachelor or master thesis. The RBL is also open for lawyers, magistrates and external visitors. Attention: a visit to the RBL is possible by appointment only! An appointment can be made via telephone (011/37.47.12) or via info-rbl@uhasselt.be.
Unless the Group of Experts for the Exit Strategy (GEES) would still give positive advice on this, during this academic year the Law Library won't open anymore as a study space for students. However, because Hasselt University wants to create the best possible study conditions for all students, we tried to find a solution for students who are in a difficult (private) situation and who are really unable to study at home. More information about the conditions and the procedure is available on https://www.uhasselt.be/UH/Student-support/corona-facilities.
Every student can send digital files for printing via www.onlineprintbox.be. After a one-time registration, you get access to a user-friendly platform where various files can be passed on and printed and finished at competitive rates. Due to the current corona measures, it is only possible to send printed files to an address in Belgium.
Tip: everyone can combine multiple files in 1 order so that shipping costs are only settled once.
Increased visibility of e-book offerings & Le Docte
On the website of the Law Library, our range of e-books was highlighted by including a link to the 'Law Collection' of Ebook Central under the renewed block 'Legal databases and e-books'. Through the RBL, students and staff have access to more than 7300 (international) e-books, both on and off-campus.
Looking for a translation of a certain legal term? Then consult Le Docte, the quadrilingual legal dictionary. Access to this dictionary is also possible off-campus.
Hasselt University concluded a new license with Larcier that gives us almost unlimited access to all content in Strada lex. Compared to the previous agreement, these are the main changes / benefits:
- access to ALL journals, published by Larcier and Bruylant;
- access to ALL books, published by Larcier and Bruylant;
- access to the Larcier codes;
- access to the 'Répertoire Notarial';
- full access to the content of Strada lex Luxembourg;
- partial access to the content of Strada lex Europe.
Moreover, there is no longer a limitation on the number of simultaneous accesses. And for a maximum period of 18 weeks a year, students will have off-campus access to the database (also àfter the corona crisis).
