The decisions taken by the consultation committee on March 24, do not have a direct impact on the services of the University Library. Our opening hours, procedures and safety measures haven't changed.
Opening hours and library usage
Both Campus library Diepenbeek and Law Library Limburg remain open, following the regular opening hours.
- Campus library Diepenbeek (Mon-Fri: 8h30-21h45 and Sat: 9h-17h) mainly wants to offer a workspace to those students who are in a difficult private situation and who are unable to study at home. Unlike the previous academic year, however, it is no longer necessary to request a certificate for this. We kindly ask all students who can just as well study at home, to do so. In order to avoid students from other universities and high school colleges, we reactivated the gates at the entrance; only UHasselt students (and staff) are able to open these gates.
- Access to Law Library Limburg (Mon-Fri: 8h30-18h and Fri-Sat: 9h-17h) is strictly limited to collection users, among others to help students who have to write a bachelor or master thesis. Also, magistrates and staff members of the tribunals, courts and judicial departments connected to the Federal Public Service for Justice are still welcome, as well as lawyers, notaries, bailiffs and other external users.
Seat reservation required
The reservation of a seat in the library is mandatory! Please use the online reservation tool Take a seat. Don’t forget you have to check in at your arrival and check out at your departure. More information about the reservation tool is available on https://bibliotheek.uhasselt.be/en/take-a-seat.
The group work rooms in Campus library Diepenbeek are closed until further notice.
It is required to permanently wear a face mask in the library, even if you sit down and study. With this strict obligation, we not only want to tackle the coronavirus pandemic but we also want to keep our libraries open for as long as possible.
We explicitly ask everyone to respect all safety measures (social distancing, mouth mask, hand hygiene, disinfecting the workplace yourself, etc.)! Anyone who does not adhere to the imposed rules will be expelled from the library.
Extending your loan period
It is still possible to borrow and return books. If no reservations have been made, loans can be renewed online twice via My library. However, always do this before the loan period expires.
Scan on demand
We would like to point out that within Law Library Limburg, a 'scan on demand' service is deployed for legal publications. UHasselt staff and students, but also magistrates, can request a free scan of a journal article or a book chapter (max. 30 pages) via info-rbl@uhasselt.be. However, please deal with this in a well-considered manner. We do our best to deliver these requests as soon as possible.
Online collection also off-campus available for UHasselt students and staff
Our electronic collection is available 24/24. Via the links offered on the library website, all UHasselt students and staff have off-campus access to almost all e-sources, such as our very large e-book collection. We also want to promote LibKey Nomad, a browser extension for fast, one-click access to subscribed and open access articles anytime, anywhere (i.e. on publisher websites, PubMed, etc.).
