Library Regulations Law Library Limburg (dutch version) (pdf)
Become a member
Hasselt University students and staff members are automatically members; their student or staff cards serve as library cards. Members of the association (PXL) and the tUL (UMaastricht) can become members by presenting their student or staff cards. Students from other institutions also have free access if they can show their student cards at the library desk.
(Honorary) magistrates and staff members of the tribunals, courts and judicial departments connected to the Federal Public Service for Justice Limburg are automatically members; they receive a membership card.
Lawyers connected to the Limburg Bar Association and notaries and bailiffs can become members for € 5,00/year.
External readers can become members for € 20,00/year or € 3,00/day.
Alumni (masters) have free access to the Law Library. Ideally, they are a member of vzw Phylexa (cf. the alumni association of the Law faculty - alumnirechten@uhasselt.be).
Code of conduct
In the reading room you must avoid all activities that may disturb other readers or the good practise of the library. Other activities than those necessary for study and research, are not allowed.
- there will be no talking out loud or on the phone;
- the Law Library is a non-smoking area;
- eating and drinking is not allowed;
- bags, coats, etc. must be stored in the designated lockers.
Documents that you have consulted must be placed in the 'rack for consulted items'. The library staff will then put the material back in the library.
Due to limited seating, the library gives priority to research work. For studying only we would like to refer students to the self-study rooms at the Former Prison (campus Hasselt) and the Library Hasselt Limburg.
