- e-journal collections (Elsevier, Wiley, Springer, Nature, Sage Premier, ACM Digital Library, ACS, RSC, IOP, JSTOR, Emerald 360, ProQuest Central, Business Source Complete, Art & Architecture Source, AIP, Jurisquare, Legal Source, etc.);
- e-book collections (Ebook Central, Elsevier e-books, Springer e-books, Wolters Kluwer digital book platform, Van Dale online woordenboeken, Le Docte: Viertalig Juridisch Woordenboek etc.);
For paper books, the main focus lies on providing access to didactic literature (= the lists of compulsory and recommended literature for students). Are you nevertheless missing an interesting book in the library? Please report it immediately at the library desk!
Useful tools
- In order to be able to search the full library collection at the same time with a single search query, it's best to use the UHasselt Discovery Service, the central search interface on the home page of the library website.
- In order to find out whether Hasselt University has access to a specific e-journal, you can consult the A-to-Z list of e-journals, also available on the home page of the library website.
- If you want an overview of all potentially interesting e-sources Hasselt University has a license to, visit the following webpage: https://bibliotheek.uhasselt.be/en/e-sources.
Physical access to the library
Since June 2018, there are entrance gates at Campus Library Diepenbeek. UHasselt students can identify themselves with their student card. External parties are still welcome to consult the library collection, but the work and study areas in the library are reserved for Hasselt University students (and members of the association). Campus library Diepenbeek has 367 workstations, divided into three different zones: a group work zone, a whisper zone and a quiet work zone. Wondering how many people are present in the Campus Library? Check the access counter on the homepage of the library website.
Unlike the Campus library, Law Library Limburg is rarely used as study room. It is primarily a research library where law books and law journals are consulted on site. There are no access gates, but everyone has to identify himself.
Accessibility from a distance
Most electronic journals and databases are payable and can only be consulted "on campus"; i.e. when your pc is connected to the UHasselt network. Via EZproxyserver these sources can nonetheless be consulted from a distance (f.e. at home, on holiday,...). The only thing you have to do is using the links to these e-sources that are mentioned on the library website. After clicking the required e-source link on the library website, you are directed automatically via the EZproxyserver. You are requested to log in with your UHasselt user name and password, and are then able to consult the source the same way as "on campus".
For fast, one-click access to subscribed and open access articles anytime & anywhere, you can also use 'LibKey Nomad', a very user-friendly browser extension.
Study in peace
Many students use the library as a place to study. We expect everyone to respect the library's peace and quiet. Because demand often exceeds supply, work and study areas in the Campus library are reserved for Hasselt University students (and members of the association).
Visitors can make free use of the PCs at hand in the library. You can also log in with your own device on the UHasselt wireless network.
Attention: Eating and drinking in the library is prohibited. Only small bottles of water are allowed. All bags and purses must be stored in the designated lockers.
Reserve a room
In Campus library Diepenbeek students have the possibility to use 10 rooms for group work: 6 open group work rooms (that are freely accessible) and 4 closed group work rooms (that need to be booked). Quiet conversation is allowed in these areas.
Print, copy and scan
Students can print, copy and scan using their student or staff card (cf. provide your card with the required balance via PingPing!).
Loan, renew and reserve
In Campus library Diepenbeek students may borrow four books per visit, for a period of four weeks. However, in Law Library Limburg borrowing is limited. At My library you can always check which books you have borrowed.
Loans can be renewed (if no reservations have been made). Students can renew online (twice) at My library.
It is possible to reserve documents/books through My library.
Items that are borrowed long-term (to members of staff or emeriti) must be returned as soon as possible when reserved by another reader.
Readers are required to timely return their books at the library desk. Those who are late will be excluded from our loan services for two weeks. After the third reminder the borrower will receive an invoice for reminder charges and an invoice for the replacement of the books on loan.
Items that are not available in the library or cannot be accessed electronically can be requested at another library. More information on procedure and rates.
